Minh, a final-year Graphic Design student in Ho Chi Minh City, was exhausted. The fleeting, superficial relationships around him left him cynical. He joined OVFRIENDS hoping for an intellectual connection, an international friend he could “nerd-out” with about art.
He connected with Sofia, a free-spirited Art student from Barcelona.
Their conversation began by sharing portfolios. Minh marveled at Sofia’s colorful digital paintings. Sofia admired Minh’s use of typography in his designs. They quickly moved from discussing Picasso to debating whether minimalism was the future of design.
The connection went beyond their majors. Minh started learning basic Spanish on an app, just to pronounce the names of Gaudí’s works correctly. Sofia, on the other side of the globe, tried to cook “bun rieu” after watching a video Minh sent.
The bond truly deepened when they decided to collaborate on a virtual project: designing the brand identity for an environmental charity event. They stayed up late, video-called, argued, and reconciled through OVFRIENDS. They were a perfect team.
After 6 months of non-stop chatting and calling, Sofia decided to use her savings to fly to Vietnam.
The moment they met at the airport, there was no awkwardness. As they walked under the ancient lanterns of Hoi An, Minh knew this wasn’t just a friend with shared interests. He realized Sofia was his ideal life partner when he watched her sit, mesmerized, watching an artisan work with pottery, her eyes were full of respect and a desire to learn about Vietnamese culture.
Today, they live together in Barcelona. A multicultural wedding is being planned, with invitations designed by both of them. OVFRIENDS didn’t just give them a friend; it gave them a family, proving the power of love to cross all borders.
