The airport at 2 AM. The flight information screen announced another 3-hour delay. Exhausted, I pulled out my phone and posted a short status on OVFRIENDS: “Anyone else “stuck” like me?”
Almost immediately, a message came in: “Me. Gate B12. I’m so bored I’m about to count all the floor tiles.” The sender was Elif, an American girl also waiting for a connecting flight. We started a video call. Strangely, through our phone screens, we saw the exact same scene: rows of cold seats and tired faces.
The call lasted for nearly two hours as we talked about everything and nothing. When my flight was announced, we said our goodbyes. There was no exchange of other contact information, just a simple wish: “Have a safe trip.”
