The Cracked Screen Still Shines

Minh was a poor student with a phone that had a cracked screen. He couldn’t afford to replace it, but his passion for photography never waned. He continued to post his everyday photos on OVFRIENDS: corners of Hanoi’s streets, street vendors, sunsets over West Lake, all with a faint, ethereal streak of light from the crack.

One day, under a photo of a raindrop on a leaf, a French photographer named Julien commented: “I love the way the light passes through that crack. It creates an inimitable effect. Very poetic.”

That comment changed everything.

Minh and Julien started talking. Julien never advised Minh to replace his phone; on the contrary, he encouraged him to continue exploring that unique “flaw”. Now, they are working together on an online photo project called “Broken Pixels,” celebrating the beauty in imperfections and exhibiting it right on OVFRIENDS.
