Nam, an Astrophysics student, was known among his friends for his sense of humor. To prank them, he created a group on OVFRIENDS with a dramatic name: “The Society of Alien Believers.” He posted memes about UFOs and bizarre theories in it.
Unexpectedly, a new member requested to join, an account named Amelia from Arizona, USA. She didn’t comment on the memes but started posting serious articles about the Wow Signal, the Fermi Paradox and SETI projects. Nam’s group fell silent. Only Nam, intrigued, messaged Amelia privately.
It turned out she was actually a research student working at a radio observatory. Nam’s joke had unintentionally connected with Amelia’s true passion.
Currently, they are co-authoring a scientific essay titled “The Loneliness of the Stars” through transcontinental video calls on OVFRIENDS.
