Must Men Always Take the Initiative in Love?

Love has long been an important part of human life. It is not just the fluttering emotions between two people, but also the mutual understanding, sharing, and the building of a sustainable relationship together. However, in traditional mindsets, many still believe that men must be the ones to take the initiative in love: making the first move, confessing their feelings, and leading the relationship. But in modern society, is this still a mandatory rule?

In reality, who takes the initiative in love depends on the circumstances and the personality of each individual, and it does not necessarily have to be the man. There are many different scenarios that happen in life:

First, the most familiar case is when the man develops feelings first and proactively expresses them. This is the image people commonly see: the guy tries to get acquainted, texts, shows care, and eventually confesses. In this case, the man's initiative helps the relationship progress more clearly and also aligns with the traditional views of many.

Second, there are cases where the woman is the one who likes the other person first. However, not everyone is ready to proactively express it. Many girls, despite having feelings, still choose indirect ways to show them, such as caring, talking more, or waiting for signals from the other side. The reasons could be shyness, fear of rejection, or being influenced by the thought that girls should not be too proactive in love.

Third, there are also relationships where the woman decides to make the first move. In modern society, this is becoming increasingly popular and is viewed more positively. When a girl is confident enough to voice her emotions, it is not something “inappropriate”; on the contrary, it demonstrates sincerity and bravery in love.

Additionally, there are cases where both people have feelings for each other but are hesitant, with neither making a move. This sometimes leads to a potential relationship being missed out on simply because both are waiting for the other to take the first step.

From the situations above, it can be seen that love should not be confined by the prejudice of “who must be the one to initiate.” What matters more is the sincerity, respect, and genuine feelings of both individuals. When someone likes the other enough and believes in the relationship enough, taking the initiative is sometimes just a small step to begin a great story.
