Drinking enough water every day - a small habit with immense benefits
In life, humans can live without many things, but water is almost indispensable. Our bodies are about 75% water; from blood and cells to internal organs, everything needs water to function. People often say that humans can go without food for a few days, but it is very difficult to endure thirst for more than a long day. That is enough to show how crucial water is to the life and health of each person.
In modern life, many people are often so engrossed in studying and working that they forget to drink enough water. Some only drink when they are truly thirsty, but in reality, by the time we feel thirsty, our bodies have already begun to dehydrate. According to health experts, the average amount of water needed for a person per day can be calculated using the formula: weight multiplied by 0.03 or 0.035. For example, a person weighing 50kg will need about 1.5 liters of water a day. However, this amount can vary depending on the weather, the level of physical activity, or the individual's health condition.
Drinking enough water brings many benefits to the body. First of all, water helps regulate body temperature, transport nutrients, and flush out toxins. When the body is supplied with enough water, the skin also becomes healthier and smoother. Water also helps the digestive system function well, minimizes constipation, and supports the metabolic process. For students or people doing mental work, drinking enough water also helps increase concentration and reduces feelings of fatigue.
Conversely, a lack of water can make the body feel sluggish, cause headaches and dizziness, and reduce work performance. In the long run, frequent dehydration also affects the kidneys and many other organs in the body. Unfortunately, many people nowadays have the habit of replacing plain water with sweet beverages, milk tea, or carbonated drinks. Those drinks might be tasty, but they cannot completely replace pure water.
