Overcoming Prejudice

As a student of Middle Eastern Studies in France, I frequently faced prejudice and misunderstandings about Arab culture.

One evening, in a debate forum on OVFRIENDS with the topic “Culture and Globalization,” a heated argument broke out. Initially, I just planned to observe quietly. But when I saw misinformation being presented, I decided to speak up, not with aggression, but with a desire to share.

My post unexpectedly gained attention. That debate turned into a month-long discussion series, with participants from many different cultures. We weren’t trying to win or lose; we were trying to listen. It turned out that understanding isn’t something monumental; it simply begins with the courage to listen and the courage to share.
